The word â€Å"communication â€Å"means to contact with other people and to share ideas and opinions. It seems a simple process, but actually it is not. Sometimes, because of misunderstanding someone, conflicts between personal or professional relationships may occur and this will lead to failure of communication. Effective communication is more than talking with other people and sharing ideas; it is about understanding the purpose of the talk and the emotions or feeling behind it. Effective communication helps us to understand people or situations, enables us to solve the problems, build trust between people, improve the relationships at home or work and create an environment where creative ideas can flourish. It also helps us to communicate†¦show more content†¦How to acquire effective listening? 1. Focus and concentrate only on the speaker, watch his or her body language and nonverbal signs. If you are busy in your mobile phone, for example, then you will certainly miss the nonverbal sign and it seems that you ignore him so this will break the communication. If you find difficulty in focusing on what’s being said try to repeat the words in your mind because this will reinforce the conversation and it will help you to stay in touch. 2. Don’t interrupt the speaker while he is talking or redirect the conversation to your side by comment on his saying, because you can’t keep focused on the speaker while you are thinking what you are going to say next, so that the speaker will notice that your mind is somewhere else and consequently this will cut off the communication. 3. Avoid judging on the ideas, opinion, or values of the speaker by blaming or criticizing him, because this will make the speaker embarrassed and annoyed, so by this the speaker won’t continue in his talking and it may break the trust between you and him and as a result it will also break the communication and lead to not solving the problem.
